Home Sale Case Study
Selling a family home after decades of ownership is never just a real estate decision. It is often a major life transition, shaped by memories, logistics, and the desire to honor a home that has meant so much for so long.
That is what made the sale of 2691 Sean Court in South San Francisco especially meaningful.
This cherished corner-lot home had been with the original owners since it was built in the 1960s. It was full of warmth and personality, with details that gave it a distinct sense of character, from the built-in wet bar in the living room to cathedral ceilings and rich wood accents throughout. Homes like this tell a story, and part of my role was helping the seller and her family prepare it for the market in a way that respected that story while also making it shine for today’s buyers.
For many sellers, the process starts well before the home goes live on the market. In this case, I worked closely not only with the seller, but also with her three adult children, who were living out of state. That meant creating a clear plan, keeping communication organized, and helping everyone feel informed and supported throughout the process.
Together, we focused on thoughtful preparation that would help the home show at its best. That included fresh paint, new carpet, light repairs, and staging designed to highlight the property’s mid-century charm and generous layout.
The goal was not to erase the home’s personality. It was to present it in a way that helped buyers immediately connect with what made it special.
When sellers have owned a home for many years, it can be hard to know where to begin. Often, the question is not whether every detail should be updated, but which improvements will make the biggest impact.
At 2691 Sean Court, the right preparation helped bring out the home’s best features and made it easier for buyers to appreciate the space, light, and character from the moment they walked in.
Well-prepared homes tend to create stronger first impressions online and in person. They also help buyers feel confident about the home’s care and potential, which can lead to more interest and stronger offers.
In this case, the response was clear.
After just two weeks on the market, the home received 10 offers and sold for $1,500,000, which was 17.65% over the $1,295,000 list price.
While the numbers were strong, what stood out most to me was the care that went into the process. Helping a family move through the sale of a longtime home with clarity and respect is work I take seriously, and it is always rewarding to see that care reflected in the outcome.
If you are preparing to sell a family home, an inherited property, or a home that has been in your family for decades, the process can feel emotional and overwhelming at first. With the right guidance, it becomes much more manageable.
Every home has a different story, and every seller has different priorities. My approach is to help you understand your options, identify the improvements that matter most, and create a plan that supports both your goals and your timeline.
If you are curious about what your home might be worth or what preparing it for sale could look like, I’d be happy to talk.
